Kid’s Night Out:

First Friday Splash & Fun (Juniper Swim & Fitness)-First Fridays, 6-9 pm, Ages 6-9               Drop the kids off at JSFC and head to First Friday in downtown Bend! In the care of our trained, fun-loving staff, children can participate in a variety of exciting activities such as science experiments, learning hip hop, playing a game of tag, performing in a impromptu talent show and, of course, swimming! Snacks and drinks provided. Save money and register early. Fees: Pre-register – $10 ID $12 OD / Day of registration – $13 ID $16 OD Note: Kids 10 and older are welcome at Open Recreation Swim that begins at 6:30pm.

Kids Night Out (Juniper Swim & Fitness)-Second Saturdays, 6:30-9:30 pm, Ages 3-11       Parents get a night out while kids ages 3-11 get JSFC to themselves, as the pool is closed to all other users during this time. Snack is included.  Ages 3-5 will enjoy crafts, games and more. Swimming is not included for this group. Children must be potty trainied to attend this program.  Ages 5-11 will enjoy playing in the pool and have fun with their friends under the supervision of our staff.  Cost: $14 per child ($11 for early registration)

Kids Night Out (Bouncing off the Wall)-2nd & 4th Saturday, 6-9 pm                                           Enjoy your night out, while your kids enjoy theirs. Have the peace of mind knowing that your kids are not only having a blast, but are also in good hands.  Includes 3 hours of play time, 2 slices of pizza and a capri sun for each child, healthy snack, craft project and kid friendly movie.  Ages 3-10 (littles MUST be potty trained AND independent in the bathroom ONLY).  Cost is $20/child…$5 discount per child if signed up by Friday at 5pm

Kids Explore Nature (Sunriver Nature Center)-10/7, 11/11, 12/2 & 1/6, 6-8:30 pm                   Parents! Need a night out? Leave your kiddos with our awesome nature staff for fun evening adventures! Cost is $30.  Register through Bend Park & Rec using Activity # 306060.

Toddler Time:

Pre-K Play (Bouncing off the Wall)-Mon, Wed, Fri, 10-12 pm                                                             We save this time for kids kindergarten and under ONLY.  Give your kiddo a chance to explore our enormous environment without fear of being trampled by the big kids. It give us the chance to set out some really cool, age-appropriate stuff for you and your child to play and interact with that you may not be able to do at home. Pre-K Play sessions are not offered on Bend-Lapine School Days off.

Playmania (Central Oregon Gymnastics Academy)-Tue, Thur, Fri, 10-11:30 am                          Parent-participation open playtime for ages 0-5.  Cost is $7 per child, or 10 visit punch card for $50. Bring a full-size canned food or non-perishable food item per child to receive $2 off admission.

Soccer Tots (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Sept 12-Oct 29, Ages 18 months-6 years                          SoccerTots© is a motor-skill development program for kids ages 18 months to 6 years old. This programs is designed to use a series of fun games that encourage kids to develop motor skills and physical fitness. The objectives for each game will always be non-competitive and based on fun! Your child may kick the ball at an imaginary space alien or jump on lily pads like a frog. Day & times vary, see website for details.  Cost is $85

Story Time (Deschutes Public Library)-Various times and locations                                             Programs available at the Downtown Bend, East Bend, Sunriver, Redmond, Sisters & LaPine locations for children 0-5 years.  Children’s program includes Toddlin’ Tales, Family Fun Storytime, Preschool Parade, Pajama Party, Baby Steps, Mother Goose and more. Story Time (Barnes & Noble)-Every Saturday, 11 am                                                                             Featuring a different book every week.  Check website for book title, changes to the schedule and other special events.

The Learning Groove Music Classes (Gotta Dance Studio)-Thur 10-10:45 & Fri 11-11:45       Eight week sessions beginning Sept 22/23. In every class you will sing, dance, play instruments, laugh, listen, jam along, march, chant, clap, wiggle, make stuff up, pretend, use rich language and explore and expand your child’s amazing potential through the arts.  Themed Drop-In Days available in Dec, see website for dates, times & themes!  Newborn-Age 4

Fun Around Town:

Backpack Explorers (High Desert Museum)-Wed or Thur, 10-11 am, through Nov. 17           Parents and children ages 3-5 investigate science, art, music, stories and culture in a fun, hands-on manner. Don backpacks filled with exciting artifacts while journeying through the Museum’s nature trails and exhibits. Foster artistic expression in your little one and take home activities. Members $10, non-members $15. Admission for adult. 

Big Play Thing (Cascade Indoor Sports)-T/W 9:30-12:30, M/T/W/Th 3:30-6:30, Sat 10-12 Central Oregon’s newest and largest indoor play structure, with more than 3,000 square feet of climbing adventure! Twisting slides, foam forest, tubes, tunnels, web crawls and elevators, Tarzan bridge, a soft gauntlet, half moon roll climb, bridges, and more! The Big Play Thing is designed for children 4 and older (under 4 welcome with parental assistance). Parents do not have to pay. Cost is $5 per child. Discount rates available with punch card purchase.

Open Gym (Central Oregon Gymnastics Academy)-Program resumes in Oct                      Open play time in the gym for ages 4-12. Open Skate (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Fri/Sat Night 6-9 pm, Sat/Sun 12-3 pm                         Roller skating fun for the entire family! Rentals available in both inline skates and quads. Visitors are entertained with games such as Limbo, Musical Numbers, Races, and more. Cost is $10, Kids 5-8 $7, Kids 4 and under are free.  Bring your own skates and get $3 off.

Bend Park & Recreation-Offers a wide variety of fun activities including ice skating, sports, cooking classes, fitness, swimming, outdoor adventures.  Too many to list here.  For a complete listing, view the Fall Online Playbook.  The Bend Park & Rec website isn’t the easiest to navigate and search.  It works best when you log into your account, so be sure to register and create an account.  Also, when searching for an activity, use an Activity # when possible.

Pokemon Card Game, Lessons & Trading Fun (Wabi Sabi)-Wed 2:30-4:30 & Sat 10-12         Not to be missed by the Pokemon lover!  Best for ages 5 and up.  Pokemon card decks are provided & free lessons are available until you get the hang of the game.  Also, be sure to bring your binder of collector cards for trading fun!  This event is FREE.

Drama Classes-BEAT Children’s Theatre & Bend Theatre for Young People                              Give your child the opportunity to explore drama in a fun environment. Your child will learn skills in stage movement, voice and diction, improvisation, song and dance! No experience necessary.  Various stage productions throughout the year & fun summer classes to see if drama is right for them.  Check website links above for schedule, registrations deadlines, audition guidelines & rehearsal commitment.  Price & Ages vary depending on class/production.

For the Big Kids:

Middle School Night (Juniper Swim & Fitness)First Saturdays, 6:30 – 9:30 pm                     Grades 6-8 take over JSFC with fun activities in the entire facility, dance, fitness and an awesome place to hang out with friends. Drop-in program, no need to pre-register.  Fee: $5/person or current pass

Tween Night (Bouncing off the Wall)-1st & 3rd Friday, 6-9 pm                                                         Ages 9-12 join us for pizza, soda, loud music and NO little kids in sight!  Includes 3 hours of play time, 2 slices of pizza and soda for each child.  First Friday is Cosmic Bouncing & third Friday is “Competition Style” games.  See website for more info on themes.  Cost is $15 per child.

Cosmic Bowling- Every Fri-Sat 9 pm-midnight                                                                                             Sun Mountain Fun Center – Cost is $3.75 per person/per game, 2.50 shoe rental                               Lava Lanes-Cost is $5.25 per person/per game, $3.25 shoe rental.  Cosmic Bowling is also available all day everyday in the 300 Club for $6.50 per person/game, $3.25 shoe rental

Rock Climbing League (Bend Rock Gym) – Sept 12-Oct 21, Mon & Wed at 4:15-5:45                  Open to youth of all ages, this program is geared towards motivated climbers looking to develop more advanced climbing techniques and strength in a fun, safe environment. We request that you get instructor approval before signing up for this program. Gear is included.  6 week session: $190.00

Central Oregon Track Club-Nov 3-Feb 12 on M, T, Th 3:15-5:15 & W 1:30-3:30                           This Middle and High School aged Fall/Winter program is open to athletes currently in 6th-12th grade. Athletes who are currently enrolled in MIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL may become a Club Member in the Junior program with opportunities for high school aged athletes to compete in Indoor Track & Field Competitions. Cost is $80

Oregon Volleyball Academy (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Girls age 10-18                                         Programs run November-May.  Parent Info Night Nov 1, 6:30-7:30.  Check website for tryout dates & pricing.

Family Fun:

Free Family Night (Juniper Swim & Fitness)-Third Saturday, 6:30-9:30                                      Fun for All Ages…Elevate your family get-together to a whole new level of fun! Join in to combine fitness and fun as a family. Activities include rec swim, lap swimming, crafts, cycling, yoga and more! Drop-in program, no need to pre-register. 

Family Fun Night (Bouncing off the Wall)-2nd & 4th Friday, 6-9 pm                                                Our twist on the burned out family fun night. Why stay at home when you can joust your son, box your wife and stick your daughter to the Velcro wall?  Includes 3 hours of play time, large 1-topping pizza & soda.  Themes include Jousting/Boxing, Bouncy Volleyball, Sumo Wrestling, Nerf Swords, Fun Derby and More.  These events rotate and are not available at every Family Fun Night. Cost is $20 for a family of 4, $6 each additional after that.  Advanced reservations and payment required.

Vector Volcano Arcade (Downtown Bend)-Open Wed-Fri 3-10 pm & Sat-Sun 12-10 pm         Classic Arcade with the best classic video arcade and pinball games of the 80’s and 90’s. We strive to keep our games in their original condition with bright monitors, fine tuned controls, and maintained pinballs. Our arcade is family friendly with the spirit of the 70’s and early 80’s arcade environment. We serve local craft beer and are open to minors at all times during normal business hours. High Desert Museum-Open daily 9-5 (spring/summer) & 10-4 (fall/winter)                               Year round family fun with indoor and outdoor exhibits!  Admission ranges from $7-$15 (kids 4 & under are free).  Purchase an annual membership for only $90 and get in admission-free all year! Plus, get guest passes, discounts in the store, discounted camp rates, special event invitations and other valuable benefits.  Pays for itself in just two visits for a family of four.

Sun Mountain Fun Center-Open daily Sun-Thur 10-11pm & Fri-Sat 10-midnight                       Bumper cars, bowling, batting cages, billiards, mini-golf, go-karts, arcade games, prize center & more! Do yourself a favor and become a VIP member for year round specials.

Lava Lanes Bowling Center-Open Mon-Thur 10-11pm, Fri-Sat 10-midnight, Sun 10-10pm With the newly created 300 Club Sports Bar & Grill, this is the best bowling alley to hang out and have fun in Bend! Bring along your friends to watch a ball game, bowl some frames, have a few drinks and eat great food.  Cosmic Bowling is also available all day everyday in the 300 Club, giving little ones the chance to experience this fun event that usually starts after bedtime.  Cost is $6.50 per person/game, $3.25 shoe rental

Pappy’s Pizza– Open Sun-Thur 11-midnight & Fri-Sat 11-1am                                                              Large indoor play structure gives parents the opportunity to have a little downtime over dinner & drinks while the kids play!  Admission is free to diners.

Lil’ Dribblers (Bend Hoops)-Oct 8-Nov 12, Saturdays 1–11 am, Ages 3-6                                        Six week sessions offer an introduction to basketball and basketball movement clinic. Lil’ Dribblers program consists of basketball basics and tons of fun games that will start each child down the path of enjoying this life long sport. Bring your son or daughter to our state-of-the-art facility and watch them as they dribble and shoot for the first time (youth sized basketballs and hoops will be used). Cost is $110

Arena Flag Football (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Nov 11-Jan 20, 2nd-6th grade                           Cascade Indoor Sports now in our third year of Arena Flag Football! This is a fun, active, engaging program that doesn’t take itself too seriously. After all, sports are about FUN! Start talking to your friends because space is limited and this program WILL FILL!  Other sessions run 1/27-3/17, 3/24-5/19 & 5/26-7/14.  Cost is $90 per session.

Indoor Youth Soccer League (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Nov 5-Dec 17, K-8th grade                     Recreational league based around fun and improvement, this is a great fit for kids of all skill levels. Games are played every Saturday. If your son or daughter is just beginning, or looking to fine tune their skills, this league provides them that exact opportunity.  Space is limited and leagues FILL FAST! Registration opens 2 months prior to session start.  Other sessions run 1/7-2/25, 3/4-4/29 & 5/6-6/24. Cost is $90

Soccer Skills 101 (Cascade Indoor Sports)-Sept 12-Oct 26, Ages 7-11                                                 This soccer class will focus on both the technical and mental aspects of soccer. Your kids will train once a week with our fun and knowledgeable coach. This program will get your kids excited to play the game of soccer while developing both team and individual skill. Player abilities range from beginner to intermediate.  Class fills FAST!  Check website for future session dates.  Cost is $85.

Rock Monkeys (Bend Rock Gym)-Sept 12-Oct 21, Ages 6-12                                                                    This after school youth program is a great, beginner-friendly alternative to traditional after school sports!  Emphasis is placed on safety skills and fun technique-oriented games. Gear is included.  Meets once per week: choose Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 4:30-5:45pm. Cliff Kids (Bend Rock Gym)-Sept 12-Oct 21, Ages 4-5                                                                                An hour long program, perfect for beginners!  Staff supervise games and personal challenges while helping out with gear and cheering the kids on.  Meant to be playful and engaging, while using social learning to gain body awareness and develop new skills.  Gear is included. Meets once per week Wednesday from 3:00-4:00pm or Friday 10:00-11:00am.  Six week sessions run during the school year, check website for dates.  Cost is $120

Ski  & Snowboarding Lessons (Mt Bachelor Gravity School)-Sessions begin 12/3, 1/7 & 4/1  Beginner through Expert level skiers & snowboarders, multi-week lessons offered Saturdays and Sundays.  Choose from Mighty Mites/Mighty Riders for ages 6 and under or All Mountain Skiers/All Mountain Riders for ages 6-14.  Three & nine week sessions available.  Cost varies, see website for full details.

Ski or Ride in 5 Lessons (Mt Bachelor Gravity School)-Lessons available Jan 6-March 24   Program is for absolute beginners and includes 5 ski or snowboarding lessons on dates of your choice, rental gear & lift ticket on day of lesson.  Cost has not been published yet for the 2016/2017 season (it was $199 last year).  This is an AMAZING VALUE…Upon completion, you receive a FREE Winter Season Pass (18 & under) or 12 Day Pass (Ages 19+) good for the remainder of the 2016-2017 winter season.  Plus, you save on your season pass for the next two years.  I completed this program last winter.
